ON YOUR MARK… GET SET…DANCE!!!!!!
After every race, there’s always that familiar atmosphere: loud music to get you pumped, runners high-fiving each other on their big athletic accomplishment, volunteers busily handing out water, snacks and finisher t-shirts.
At the Straub/Kapiolani Women’s 10 K run at Kapiolani Park, runners decided to change things up …in a BIG way!!
Ok, picture that video on the internet that went viral of the prisoners in the Philippines dancing in unison to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” … then replace them with female runners ages 2 to 80 plus --- from Hawaii doing the same thing in sneakers. It wasn’t as large in comparison, but just as impressive.
That’s what happened after runners completed the 6.2 mile race! I’ve participated and emceed this run for several years and was completely caught off guard by this massive impromtu “dance off”!
Their dance moves left me saying, “Beyonce – WHO?”
Thanks to my energetic co-emcee Kaulana and his Torch Entertainment crew for choosing the right beats to get the ladies moving!!!
CLICK ON THE LINK TO SEE THE DANCE OFF!!!! ** MORE GIRL POWER! **GANBATTE! Congrats and best wishes to this year’s Cherry Blossom contestants! Keahi and I had the honor of emceeing their final public appearance at Ala Moana Shopping Center Saturday. After talking with the ladies, I am quite impressed with the time and energy they spent learning more about their Japanese culture. The girls were poised and confident on stage and you could tell they were truly enjoying the moment.
The 58th Cherry Blossom festival Queen and her court will be announced at the end of this month.
YOU GO GIRL!
